Wolverine is weak. Professor X is a loser. And Storm may control the elements, but she can't cut. So now, meet one of the real X-Men, one of the world's greatest DJ's straight from the BKLYN. Yeah I said it. And the thing that kills me is that they're say damn modest about it. I guess when you are the world's best, there's not much else out there to gloat about, until E.T. comes down with a Vestax in his hand.

And here was Mr. Sinista, chillin with his younger bro, a soldier who looked up to Sinista's sinister wayz on the tables. And of course, also with him were his two compadres and fellow Cutmastas, Roc Raider and Rob Swift, all pumping out the same vibe present in the new, upcoming album Expressions - which will be released in early September. It was a glorious night indeed...

Mid: First off, I wanna say, Congratulations on the album and everything.

Sinister: No doubt, yo. Good lookin.

Mid: So as far as the creation of the album. When did ya'll really sit together and start building with everything. Cause ya'll been bangin shit for awhile, but what made you get a whole album togther.

Sinister: It came along like this, we was cuttin and we had MC's in the DJ Competitions for years. You know, one day we decided to do a break beat album and we all agreed on it, and we thought it was good idea to do it so we started going up to Rob's house and started formulating the ideas for the album. So it's actually gonna be our album, but what happened was we called to do a tour with Not-Human, he's the founder of Astrodome Records and we went on tour with Invisble Skratch Pickls and the Beatjunkies.

So as we did that, the owner, Not-Human who sponsored the whole tour, he had talked to Rob and he liked what we were doing. So he stepped to us with an ideal of doing an album, and he would finance and press it. And we were like, wow, we were about to make a breakbeat album, but being that you're offering us that, we're more than happy to do that. That's how the whole thing came about so our whole mindstate switched and you know, being that all of us produce and we have diverse ideas, we just went ahead and now we changed our whole thing from just making a breakbeat album to a into a whole complete album. Incorporate everything, not just breaks on the album but tracks as well, with MC's, you know featuring MC's, scratches, mixes... everything that has to do with the turntable.

Mid: Cool. What MC's are you closely linked with?

Sinister: As far as the album's concerned, we got Good Times rhymin on it, we got my man, Coo Coo, they on Liquid Souls. My man Creature, we also have Wayne from the E brothers rhymin on it, we tried to get Common, but you know they was out of town, you know how that is.

Mid: Word.

Sinister: But you know, as far as that, we tried to have a whole bunch of different MC's, nobody that's in the industry, but just a different crew we feel could make a difference on the album.

Mid: True, that's phat. So how long has everyone been DJ'ing in the crew.

Sins: Wow. Me myself, I've been DJ'ing for 14 years, Rob for about 14 years, Raider for about 13 years. We've all been DJ'ing for awhile man.

Mid: And you've been worldwide of course.

Sins: Yes. Travelling all over. Switzerland, London, Japan, I mean, we went a long way, we didn't think it would go this far, but it worked out for the better.

Mid: True, ya'll was pretty underground for the time being. I mean what's it like with your travelling, doing your thing, and I know it gets kinda wild out there, what do you gotta look out for when you're doing that.

Sins: Basically you gotta look out for the jet lag [laugh]

Mid: Ha, ha...

Sins: And you gotta look out for Shady Promoters. You know, just lookin out for the jealous heads, you know we just gonna do our thing, cause its what we do, we don't care what anybody really says, we just gonna bring it to people how we feel, it comes from us. That's why the album's called Expressions. we express this, it's coming from us. You just gotta look out for those things and just move ahead.

Mid: Right, exactly. So, on the Skratch Pad, we got a lot of DJ's who are up and coming, you know we got some DJ's already hittin things hard, and we got a lot who are striving to come up. A lot of us are also low budgeted, so you got any words for them as far as what to look out for, what to do and what not to do.

Sins: Number one is, don't let anybody tell you how to do you thing, know what I mean? Cause everybody has a thing, but only you are gonna do what comes from your heart, and people are gonna enjoy what you do when it comes from you. So don't let anybody change you, don't try to change for anybody. Just go on out there and do what you were born to do, what you're in your house practicin for, strivin for. Don't stop, just keep practicin, don't stop for anybody, don't let anything push you back, just keep moving ahead, despite all the negative talk you might get, people telling you never gonna amount to nuthin or make it. You know you have that, but basic thing is to keep striving for perfection.

Mids: No doubt. So what happens now, where do you move on from here?

Sin: Well, right now, we're just waiting for the album to drop. And hopefully people will like it and hopefully it sells a lot of units so we can go on ahead and do another album drop more singles for the people for our fans, and hopefully we'll just keep bringin it to them raw, you know? Keep invintin them to the table.

Mids: Cool, cool.
